NCVB Celebrates National Tourism Week
Norfolk, Va. (May 16, 2008) – Gerald Martin, an employee of the City of Norfolk Seven Venues for more than 35 years, was named Norfolk Convention & Visitors Bureau (NCVB) Hospitality Associate of the Year during yesterday’s “Champions of Hospitality” Rally for National Tourism Week. NCVB honored the best and brightest hospitality associates in the city for their contribution to Norfolk’s tour and travel industry yesterday afternoon at the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center.
Martin joined an elite group of Norfolk employees who have been noted with the Associate of the Year distinction since the NCVB held its first rally in 2002. Nearly 80 associates were nominated in 20 different categories.
NCVB will also participate in “Thank the Visitor Day” today from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Norfolk International Airport. Representatives from NCVB will share Norfolk information, maps and fun facts as well as provide giveaways to travelers. The newly formed Southeast Virginia Tourism Alliance, consisting of other regional CVB’s, will also participate in this event.
