The NCVB Training & Research Foundation, Inc.
Educational training activities of the NCVB Training & Research Foundation, Inc. are aimed at current hospitality employees, students, the local community and the public at large and will include customer service training; preparing Visitor Information Center staff; public relations and community outreach campaigns; and secondary educational programs developed in conjunction with local universities. The Foundation will also serve as the umbrella organization for visitor research in Norfolk.
The Foundation received IRS advanced ruling approval to function as a 501 (c) 3 charitable non-profit organization on May 10, 2004 and will receive funding through grants, contributions and fund-raising events.
The NCVB Training & Research Foundation, Inc. operates independently of the Norfolk Convention and Visitors Bureau under the direction of a 20 person board, chaired by Malcolm Branch, the executive director of the South Tidewater Association of Ship Repairers, Inc., a trade association which represents the Hampton Roads/Norfolk region’s $1.2 billion ship repair industry. Branch is also the executive director of the Tidewater Maritime Training Institute.
